In the year 2021, 679 electrical fires were recorded nationwide, representing 12.29% of the 5,525 fire outbreaks reported. These incidents caused the loss of millions of Ghana cedis, as well as valuable lives and livelihoods.
In 2022, electrical fires increased significantly by 43.44% compared to 2021, with a total of 924 incidents recorded.
Subsequent years experienced fluctuating trends thus: 855 cases in 2023 (14.31% of total fire incidents and 953 cases in 2024 (14.81%), Electrical fires remain a persistent and growing concern.
As at the end of 2025, over 435 electrical fires have been recorded nationwide.
Sadly, 17 precious lives were lost due to electrical fires.
